How it works
You see the whole price before you give us any details. Your trip is booked when you press Book. You pay in cash when the trip starts: to your driver when the booking includes our vehicle, otherwise to the person we name with the meeting point. Nothing is paid online.
Four steps, start to finish
Step 1: See the full price
Choose a tour, a day tour, an activity or a transfer, or build your own trip, with your date and your group. You see every line of the price before you give us any details.
Step 2: Book your trip
Your name and phone number. The trip is booked the moment you press Book, under a reference you keep, and your booking page shows everything in one place.
Step 3: You get your driver's details
When the booking includes our vehicle, your driver's name and vehicle plate come by 20:00 the evening before the trip, or within 30 minutes of a later booking. Otherwise your pickup details, or where to meet and who to pay, come on the same timing.
Step 4: Your driver collects you
At the pickup time on your booking page. A multi-day trip's first pickup is agreed from your arrival. You pay your driver in cash when the trip starts. With no vehicle of ours in the booking, you pay the person we name with the meeting point instead.
What happens after you press Book
Once you book, your trip is secured and we run it.
Day tours, activities and transfers
You get a reference and a private page with everything on it. A day tour's pickup time comes from its schedule. When the booking includes our vehicle, your driver's name and vehicle plate come by 20:00 the evening before the trip, or within 30 minutes of a later booking. Otherwise your pickup details, or where to meet and who to pay, come on the same timing.
Round tours and your own plan
You get the same reference and page. We then book the hotels, train seats and activities on your plan, and your first pickup is agreed from your arrival. Hotels are named as examples of the standard you will get. If a named hotel is full we book one of the same standard in the same area and tell you which.
We reply within 30 minutes, 07:00 to 21:00 Sri Lanka time. Outside those hours a message waits until the morning. Booking closes at 21:00 Sri Lanka time the evening before pickup.
Larger groups are priced by hand on WhatsApp. Nothing booked until you accept the price.
How payment works
Nothing to pay now.
You pay in cash when the trip starts: to your driver when the booking includes our vehicle, otherwise to the person we name with the meeting point. No deposit, no card details online.
Prices are in US dollars. Rupee amounts shown beside them are approximate, and we confirm the exact rupee amount for you to bring. We take no money online, so there is nothing to refund if you cancel.
Can I book now and pay when I arrive in Sri Lanka?
Yes. With Majeste nothing is paid online, and your trip is booked when you press Book. You pay in cash when the trip starts: to your driver when the booking includes our vehicle, otherwise to the person we name with the meeting point. No deposit, no card details online. Plans change? Cancel free up to 24 hours before pickup.
If something changes
What if I need to cancel?
Plans change? Cancel free up to 24 hours before pickup. Inside 24 hours, tell us at once: your driver has held those days for you and turned other work away.
Can I change the plan after booking?
Yes. Message us with your reference and we send the new price, worked out from the same published rates. Hotel changes depend on what is free on the new dates.
What happens if a park closes or an activity is cancelled?
Parks close and boats cancel, sometimes at short notice. Where there is a sensible substitute, for example Udawalawe when Yala's main blocks close, we offer it and show the price difference, and you decide.
What if we see no animals?
Sightings are never guaranteed. Leopards are seen on some drives, not all. Whales are seen on some trips, not all.
What if you cannot reach me?
If we cannot reach you on the day and you do not arrive, the booking lapses.
