About this tour

A four-hour private jeep safari in Bundala, the wetland park west of Tissamaharama with flamingos in some winters, storks, pelicans and crocodiles, and far fewer jeeps than Yala. Then the Kirinda temple on its rock above the beach and the Tissa Wewa tank. Migrant birds are present from about September to March. Bundala stays open when Yala's main blocks close.

  • Private 4x4 jeep in Bundala with Category II park tickets included
  • Water birds, crocodiles and elephants on some drives; quiet tracks
  • Kirinda temple and beach, Tissa Wewa and the Tissamaharama dagoba

Good to know

  • Flamingos are not seen every year; the seasonal note is from general birding guides, not the park.
  • A naturalist guide is worth adding here; the birds are the point.
  • Yala's afternoon safari can follow the same day for a full wildlife day.
  • The jeep collects you at your hotel in Tissamaharama, so your car is charged at the half-day rate.

Good months: September, October, November, December, January, February, March.

Harder months: April, May, June, July, August.
