An hour and a half of flat road to the sacred city of Anuradhapura: the Sri Maha Bodhi, the great dagobas, the Samadhi Buddha and the Twin Ponds, seen by car between sites. After lunch, Mihintale, the hill where Buddhism arrived on the island, climbed in the cooler late afternoon. It is a long, hot day with a lot of shoe removal on hot stone.
