About this tour

A morning at sea from Mirissa harbour, from 06:30 to about 11:00, looking for blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins. The boat fee includes the government wildlife levy. Sri Lanka's 2026 whale-watching criteria ask boats to keep a slow, careful approach, and we ask operators to keep to them. Whales are seen on some trips in season, not all; we do not quote a sighting rate. The sea can be rough; take a seasickness tablet an hour before departure.

  • Seat on a shared boat, levy included
  • Blue whales, sperm whales and dolphins are seen on some trips in season, not all
  • Back at the hotel before lunch

What is in the price

Included

  • The boat operator's own pickup collects you within about 6 km of the harbour, which covers Mirissa and Weligama, and you take a seat on a shared boat. From other start towns a private car and English-speaking driver, with fuel, tolls and parking, are included.
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off in Mirissa, Weligama, Galle, Hikkaduwa or Bentota
  • Every activity listed under tickets and fees

Not included
