Kumana half-day safari (private jeep)

What happens

The east-coast park next to Yala, reached from Arugam Bay or Panama. Known for nesting water birds, with elephants, crocodiles and occasional leopards. Far fewer jeeps than Yala, and a longer drive to the gate.

Limits

• Up to 6 people in one group.
• Tracks are bumpy. Not advised in late pregnancy or with back problems.
• Open-sided jeep: bring a hat, sunscreen and a light layer for the early start.
