About this tour

An east-coast day from the Cultural Triangle in the May to September season: a boat from Nilaveli to Pigeon Island to snorkel, with reef sharks and turtles on some mornings, not all, then lunch on the beach, then Koneswaram temple and the deer of Fort Frederick before the drive back. It is about two and a half hours each way through Habarana, so five hours in the car for a beach day.

  • Pigeon Island snorkelling with boat, park tickets and mask included
  • Koneswaram temple on Swami Rock, free entry
  • Nilaveli beach for lunch

Good to know

  • Boats do not go out in rough sea; from November to January the east coast is wet, so we do not sell this tour in those months.
  • The coral near the shore is damaged; the better reef is a short swim out.
  • The boat fee is priced from a 2025 figure of about LKR 15,000 per boat. It is in the total you book, which does not change.

Good months: May, June, July, August, September.

Harder months: February.
